Shopify’s inaugural hardware product, This low-cost reader was envisioned as a playful and accessible device designed to bring selling to the masses. Increasing brand awareness and developing a nascent form language were other goals of this design. The Chip & Swipe Reader features a sturdy weighted base, which facilitated selling at the countertop.
